Kia ora koutou

Welcome to Tūmanako Christian College.

We love to partner with parents who are looking for a caring, family-centred Christian education in the Far North, where their children and young people will be able to be themselves, be secure, and above all, learn.

At Tūmanako, cater for students from Years 1-13 in small, attentive classrooms with teachers who are well qualified in their respective fields. We believe that when students feel secure and connected, they are free to grow in confidence, character and academic achievement. Our students enjoy strong friendships, pursue excellence in learning, and embrace opportunities in sport, the arts and service.

Learning with purpose

We believe every child is a taonga, made in the image of God, with gifts, purpose and potential. Our desire is to nurture each student spiritually, academically, socially and emotionally, equipping them to flourish in every area of life.

Strong relationships are at the heart of our school culture, creating an environment where students feel safe, supported and inspired to learn. Our curriculum connects local, national and global contexts while providing a rich and balanced education.

Alongside our core of Bible, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health and Physical Education, students enjoy opportunities in technology, languages, sport and the arts.

Our prayer and purpose is that every student will discover their God-given potential, develop a lifelong love of learning, and leave Tūmanako equipped to serve others with wisdom, courage and compassion.

Ko Tohoraha tōku maunga.
Ko Houhora tōku awa.
Nō Pukenui ōku tūpuna.
Nō Pukenui ahau hoki.

Principal's Welcome

I am a child of the Far North, as were my forebears. I know firsthand both the opportunities and the challenges of growing up in this remarkable part of Aotearoa. An excellent education can make all the difference in helping our young people realise their hopes and aspirations.

Our hope - our tūmanako - is that this school will be a place where children and young people from our communities flourish, growing in knowledge, character and faith.

Over the past three years, it has been my pleasure to guide this new school into being; first as a campus of another school and now as Tūmanako Christian College in our own right. We have built a strong, Christ-centred culture where te reo Māori and tikanga Māori are woven naturally throughout school life. Our students are happy, secure and learning well.

We would love to welcome you to Tūmanako. Kanohi ki te kanohi is always best, so please come and visit, we'd love to meet you.
Ngā mihi nui,
Dr Sue Dow.
