Our school values
The story behind our logo
Every student is on a journey. They are nurtured, strengthened and equipped before taking flight into the world.
This stylised image of a kuaka flying above our school's name expresses faith in motion–growth shaped by purpose, and hope carried forward with courage. The stylised kuaka is formed through clean, geometric structure and subtle negative space, creating a symbol that feels both strong and enduring. Its upward movement suggests a journey guided with intention, echoing the migratory path of the kuaka as it travels great distances, returns, and begins again.
The abstraction allows the bird to become more than literal, pointing instead to the deeper story it carries: perseverance, leadership, and trust in the path ahead. Confident and refined, the mark speaks to a foundation of faith, equipping students to grow, to go, and to return strengthened.
Our coastal coloured palette and supporting custom illustrated graphics by our local designer, are inspired by the coast and landscape of our fabulous Far North. You may spot Cape Reinga, Houhora Heads and Ahipara's surf waves too. We've been inspired by pohutakawa, pingao, birds, shells and koru which are featured in our values.
Whakatauki
Ka ngau ki te turikakao te paringi o te tai, e tika te rere o te kuaka.
This refers to the pīngao growing along the beach, its seed heads moving backwards and forwards at the whim of the incoming tide and wind. In contrast, the kuaka flies with resolute directness and purposeful momentum to achieve its incredible 12,000km migration between Alaska and Aotearoa.
